Vanguards Academy was established on Saturday, 28th September, 2002 (Rajab 21, 1423 A.H.) The school was conceived to be a model private secondary school with full complements. It commenced operation in Isiwo, a sprawling town in Ogun State, Nigeria. Isiwo is a town to behold with its undulating topography and aesthetic landscape. It is located in the eastern part of Ogun State and is a home to some of the prominent citizens of the State. The population of the town is barely over 10,000 people with each family closely linked to one another. This basic feature explains the relative peace and security that the town enjoys among other communities.
The pioneer students of Vanguards Academy were just 33 in number. As the School Management kept on providing facilities in temporary site, it also intensified its search for appropriate location for a permanent campus. In 2004, the search yielded a positive result with acquisition of 60 acres of land.
The permanent site of Vanguards Academy is in Odosengolu, equally a beautiful village. It is sandwiched between Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State and Epe, the ancient and popular town in Lagos State. Ijebu-Ode is about the third largest city in Ogun State while Epe is, (among six), the third most powerful geopolitical district in Lagos State. The School is just about 45 minutes from Ogun State University in Ago Iwoye. From Murtala International Airport in Lagos, it is one hour twenty minute drive. It is about 30 minutes’ drive from the Ogun State proposed Cargo Airport. Also from Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, it is 45 minutes drive. On the other hand, it is just about three hour drive From Benin, the capital of Edo State in the South-south Nigeria. The location of the school makes it accessible either by road or by air at anytime of the day.
